CULTURE

At Melkbosstrand High School, we are dedicated to fostering the holistic development of our students—mind, body, and soul. Our commitment extends beyond the classroom, as we strive to provide each student with opportunities to unlock their full potential in every aspect of life.
Cultivating Excellence in Cultural Activities
Our cultural activities are designed to be innovative, leaving a lasting impact on the self-awareness and self-esteem of our learners. We believe that the benefits of these endeavors extend far beyond the school gates, shaping our students into caring, considerate, and valuable members of society.
Drama and Music Excellence
Led by outstanding drama and music teachers, all esteemed artists in their own right, our school has become a hub for cultivating dramatic talent. The drama group actively participates in competitions, with two learners achieving national colors in drama in 2018. At the Montague Art Festival, our group consistently secures gold medals, with the technical team (sound and lights) also earning recognition.
Community Service and Lifesaving Achievements
Our commitment to community service is evident through learners who qualified as crew members at the NSRI. These students, now volunteering weekly at the local station, are trained first aiders who provide high-quality service at sporting events and camps.
Rotary Interact Club and Community Collaboration
Our Rotary Interact Club collaborates closely with the local Rotary club, working hand-in-hand to make a positive impact on our local society.
Dance, Majorette, and Choir Achievements
Several of our learners, trained by Dance United, have qualified for the national team, showcasing their talents on an international stage. The lively choir consistently triumphs at interschools competitions, winning the spirit cup against Milnerton and Edgemead.
Inspiring Orange Week
Our commitment to holistic development extends to our annual Orange Week, where life choices are presented in a fun and educational manner.
Passionate Leadership
As the Head of Culture, I am deeply passionate about the arts as a powerful healing tool. I believe in fostering balance, guiding learners to develop holistically in academics, sports, and culture. Participation and service contribute to the happiness and smiles of our teenagers, each in their unique way.
